About Pictures of Scotland

Welcome to Pictures of Scotland, a website dedicated to showing off the scenic beauty of Scotland through images, photographs and articles.

After many years running my own business, I sold it in 2017 and wasted no time at all in donning my climbing boots and heading for the hills with my camera.

In no time at all, I had accumulated so many photos of Scottish scenery, that I started picturesofscotland.co.uk to share the images.

A few of the pictures came from royalty free sources - with thanks to those who shared.
But all the recent shots are mine (with the author tag scotlens)

I am also managing to get a few fishing trips in, so many of the photographs feature Scotland's beautiful rivers and lochs.

Or, in the case on Loch Hope and Ben Hope, the article covers both climbing the mountain and fishing the loch.

As well as mountains and hills however, there are also plenty of pictures from Scotland's towns and countryside.

This image is Newhaven harbour in Edinburgh - a favourite spot for photographers as the sun sets on a summer's evening.

Climb a Hill

If you are feeling energetic, and maybe fancy climbing a Scottish hill or mountain to take some photographs for yourself, then check out our hill walking section >>>> Scottish Mountain and Hill walks

I am constantly adding more and more climbs to this section.  You do need to be quite fit to tackle some of these, but I am in my sixties, and if I can do it, then most people should manage.

But always go properly equipped  - the mountains can be dangerous, even in summer.

In Autumn, the colours in Scotland are particularly beautiful, and if you are in the area, I highly recommend a walk through the Hermitage in Perthshire.

I hope you enjoy the site.  I am constantly adding new pictures, and no matter how well you know Scotland, there are always new things to discover about this beautiful country.

This year as I was driving from photographing leaping salmon, to take some shots of autumn colours in the Hermitage, I passed the Corbenic Poetry path.
I'd never heard of it before, but believe me, if you are in the area, that is well worth a few hours to go round - beautiful!

Check back regularly as new photos of Scottish scenery are always being added - and feel free to get in touch with any queries.

I'll be out there taking images of Scotland as long as my old legs will carry me.
